Hotel-Restaurant à l’Agneau

In the heart of the Northern Vosges

Welcome, you are at home here

What charm this Alsace of Smiles and Flowers!

The pleasure of receiving is a delicate art. Gisèle, Anne and Viviane Ernwein cultivate this gift of bringing into their confidence all those who cross the threshold of the house. Since 1769, the charm has operated from generation to generation, intimate and friendly, smiles and flowers, an open piano, always the same family history: Alsace passionately.

The history of the House

Nestled on the edge of the Northern Vosges in Alsace, the Hotel-Restaurant à l'Agneau "Zuem Lamm" was founded by Christian Achener in 1769, as evidenced by the corner stones and pediments cut from sandstone of the Vosges.

The origin of the name comes from the fact that the inn welcomed shepherds on their way to the local cattle markets. The thick walls and half-timberings of this sheepfold remain today, and it houses a beautiful flower garden, where wood-fired specialties are served on sunny summer days.

  • LEARN MORE

In the 18th and 19th centuries, our ancestors could not subsist solely on the activity of innkeepers. They also carried out other activities at the same time such as oil maker, brewer, cooper, distiller, baker, and even stocking knitter. These past professions, Gisèle and André Ernwein have highlighted them in the establishment through some beautiful pieces such as Alembic, kneader, hemp cutter or stove.

The chef Anne Ernwein

Like the place, Anne Ernwein's gastronomic cuisine is cheerful, colorful, refined and full of taste discoveries. His delicious recipes, written according to his inspirations and the seasons, place the product at their center.

Anne Ernwein, one of the rare female Maître Cuisiner in France and member of the prestigious Etoiles d'Alsace club, was trained by great chefs like Bernard Loiseau and Georges Blanc. She worked alongside Joël Garault.

Returning to her native Alsace to succeed her father, she represents the 7th generation of a family business founded in 1769 a few kilometers from Haguenau.
